For us, being a sustainable business isn’t just about being green. It’s about how UBM achieves business success today, which includes being profitable, while assuring its success tomorrow, through long-term responsible management and community engagement.
Over the past few years UBM has shifted our community focus away from more “passive philanthropic activities” to more “active community engagement”, looking to bring our expertise to bear in how we serve the communities in which we operate.
No other initiative we do demonstrates our employees’ commitment to their communities than our Global NGO and Responsible Business Events serving the nonprofit/NGO and corporate responsibility community. UBM currently operates annual events in Brazil, India and the United Kingdom with the Business4Better event launching in the United States in May 2013.
UBM’s flagship NGO and responsible business-focused events allow us to harness our resources and the expertise of our employees and business partners to make a real difference. Each responsible business event is a non-commercial, non-money making initiative that brings nonprofits/NGOs, business leaders and corporate responsibility professionals together on a large scale. Events are produced by UBM employee volunteers, and our business partners, committed to supporting the communities in which we do business.
Launched in Brazil in 2009, we have been pushing ahead with developing a global series of Events to support the NGO and charitable communities. This series of free events enables NGOs to network; share best practice; raise their profile and build partnerships with businesses.
Since 2009 ONG Brasil has more than doubled in size as it becomes a fixture in the NGO calendar, and last year saw 453 exhibiting NGOs, 753 conference delegates and 10,500 visitors, while Responsible Business 2011 saw 138 exhibiting NGOs, 350 conference delegates and 2,000 visitors.
