B4B Nonprofit Application Form

Business4Better (B4B) is seeking 200 nonprofits that engage businesses in serving their causes to participate in its conference and host a booth at its exhibition hall on May 1-2, 2013, in Anaheim California. Business engagement might involve cause-marketing campaigns, employee volunteering or joint commercial ventures. If your nonprofit works with businesses in these or other ways that go beyond cash grants, apply to attend the B4B conference and to exhibit at the event. As a nonprofit participant your organization will:

  • Have the opportunity to connect and network with businesses interested in expanding their community engagement and involvement;
  • Contribute to the B4B conference focused on advancing successful, high impact community partnerships;
  • Learn more about how to develop, manage, promote and measure successful relationships with businesses;
  • Receive marketing and PR support from media and marketing services company UBM and its B4B partners
  • Network with like-minded businesses, nonprofits and thought leaders all attending to advance corporate community involvement and impact on societal causes.

To be eligible, organizations need to:

  • Be a registered 501(c)3 public charity per the US tax code, public school, or a fiscally sponsored project (non-US organizations are exempt from this requirement)
  • Have a paid staff of at least three individuals or, if not, have a compelling case on how they have the capacity to partner with businesses effectively and be productive at the B4B conference and exhibition given the need to staff their booth while the conference is in session
  • Be secular or, if they are faith-based, the services offered through the business partnerships are secular, non-proselytizing and benefit society as a whole (as opposed to members of the congregation or of a specific faith, for example)
  • Have at least one representative participate in the one-hour B4B nonprofit webinar or review the archived webinar online prior to the event

Selected nonprofits will receive free of charge:

  • Registration at the B4B Conference and Expo for up to three representatives
  • Exhibitor booth space (10x10) at the B4B Nonprofit Expo
  • A pre-built exhibition stand with furniture, signage, card scanner, plant, and an electrical outlet which may be used for laptop or other device
  • Three to four one-hour coaching sessions from a UBM marketing staff on how best to capitalize on the experience including how best to promote your presence at the event, how best to position your value proposition to event attendees and how best to "keep the movement going" before and after the event
  • Complimentary press release distribution through PRNewswire and access to all B4B Virtual Press Office Tools
  • Admittance to all networking events for up to three representatives
  • Promotion before and during the show and on the B4B webpage
  • Opportunities to learn and network during B4B

The above booth, event and marketing services are valued at $15,000.

In return, nonprofits are expected to:

  • Have all representatives attending the conference participate in a B4B pre-conference nonprofit webinar or review the archives webinar
  • Have all representatives who will attend the conference read the materials posted on B4B nonprofit participant folder
  • Contribute to the development of written materials for businesses and nonprofits that cannot attend B4B by:*
    • Sharing best practices and other partnership experiences in the application form
    • Participating in one work group at B4B
    • Completing a post-conference survey
    • Responding promptly to requests to review and approve written citations of the nonprofit in B4B written materials
    *Note: Shared information is confidential -- citations of the nonprofit will not be published without the nonprofit's approval on the final wording.
  • Provide information on the organization needed for B4B communications, such as logo and organizational information, in a timely manner
  • Have a representative work with UBM marketing team member to prepare for event.
  • Staff the exhibitor hall booth during all times the hall is open on May 1-2, 2013
  • Promote participation in B4B to organization contacts
  • Cover travel and hotel expenses while attending the conference, if relevant. Discounted hotel rooms will be made available through B4B room blocks
